I would like to inform you about the big idea behind the process for the ‘What is left of what is right’ album.

I will first write all the songs in my attic, where my writing equipment is located. This will be partly be done via immediately transcribing ideas that come from my instruments, and partly via jams agains my DAW and choosing the best melody or groove from those jams.

I will record the songs all by myself as a demo. This will partially be done in my attic, and partially in my home studio in Budel for the more acoustic parts such as accordion and vocals. I will program drums, organs and strings and use fancy instrument plugins to create the proper sounds. This way I will learn how to shape the total sound, which textures to use, and how to do the right recordings.

When the demo is finished I will record it all over again with real musicians and as many real instruments as possible. I can then transfer my vision via the demo.

This is the way I want to go, but you never know how it will change along the way. I will keep you posted!

Next saturday I will perform with a ‘carnaval’ song on the ‘Bleeraovund’ in Budel, with the help of my friends. I wrote the song and lyrics (in dialect) because in the past I’ve helped other artists, mainly the arrangements and music, but I wanted to do a complete song myself. When this experience is behind me I will continue writing on the new material for the ‘What is left of what is right’ album. I will keep you posted!
